Ban chautari

Ban Chautari is a public platform that provides an open interactive space on all relevant forest policy agenda in which contemporary forest policy issues are debated. It will be governed by a steering committee comprising of all important civil society actors involved in forest policy dialogue seeking to provide significant contribution to democratizing forest policy process. The steering committee develops a broad framework for the modus operandi of the Chautari and the consortium members will develop operational norms to organize and facilitate the debate. The process would remain slightly porous providing an opportunity for the inclusion of those willing to contribute. The Chautari will mobilize expertise and resources beyond the supporting consortium members for sustaining and expanding productive dialogue on forest policy agenda. At least eight debates are planned for the year 2011.
