His development and research experiences encompass diverse aspects of natural resource management for the last 20 years. He worked at ForestAction as the Coordinator during 2003-2005 and continue to work at ForestAction as a researcher of natural resource governance, with a focus on people’s rights, justice and knowledge system. His research draws largely on the framework of the political economy of natural resources. In addition, he has been engaged in national and international networking and alliance building particularly in defending the livelihood rights of the disadvantaged people. He has co-edited books on Knowledge System and Natural Resources: Management, Policy and Institutions in Nepal (Foundation Books 2008) and Communities, Forests and Governance: Policy and Institutional Innovations from Nepal (Adroit Publishers 2008). He has also published papers widely in national and international journals. He is President of NGO Federation of Nepal (an umbrella organisation of more than 4500 NGOs in Nepal).
