Environmental Resources Institute
Environmental Resources Institute (ERI) Pvt. Ltd., an associate company of ForestAction group, was established in 2002 A.D under consideration of HMG/N company act 1996 AD.
Objectives
To provide highly quality services in the areas of natural resource management (NRM) and community development as per demand.
To respond to ever increasing national and international demands for quality, scientific, educational and consulting services.
To contribute in improved management of biodiversity.
To strengthen capacity of service delivery at local and national levels.
To document and disseminate learning and innovations in the areas of NRM and community development.
To promote rights of the people over environmental resources.
Strategies
ERI provides consultancy services to national and international organizations regarding training, conferences, seminar, develops diploma training and graduation courses to produce technical manpower as required of local, national and global demand. Our motto is ‘satisfaction of our valued clients’ who has the thrust on enhancement of weaker section of society, particularly the poor and marginal groups, through management of resources. We believe that self-sufficiency in technical service delivery is key to sustainable NRM. We have created and continued to expand cross-institutional alliances and partnerships with diverse institutions to learn and influence.
Key Areas of Actions
1. Research
"Economic Incentives and Poaching of the One-Horned Indian Rhinoceros in Nepal" in collaboration with Poverty Reduction and Environment Management (PREM), Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) University, the Netherlands and Simon Frazer University, Canada (ongoing).
2. Micro-Macro Linkage
Design and delivery of various training (including manuals and reading materials) targeted for CFUGs, FECOFUN, I/NGOs, CBOs, bi-lateral forestry projects, government organizations, etc in the following topics.
Study tour organized for Cambodian participants from NGO and INGO in Nepalese Community Forestry Policies and practices
Management support in ForestAction's activities
3. Training
Community/participatory forest management.
Participatory Action and Learning (PAL) in forest management.
Community based NTFP management.
Civil society involvement in forestry sector to NGO activists.
Right based forestry and livelihoods.
On-site technical assistance and training in forest management in Chure Range (Siraha, Saptari and Udaipur).
Self-monitoring process development.
Participatory forest inventory.
4. Documentation/publication/dissemination
Publication and dissemination of books, journals, research reports, guidebooks, manual and others so many publication (including production management):
Journal of Forest and Livelihood - in English (two issues in a year)
